Hemp or bamboo?!

Question

Okay so I’ve been cloth diapering for about a month now.. (got a late start and I regret it honestly). Anyways! My son is 8 months old and he is such a heavy wetter! Day and night but totally worse at night! What sort of inserts would you recommend for heavy wetter? The only ones I have are microfiber and they work perfectly for my daughter but not so much for my son.. even if I use multiple at one time 😒 help!!

I swear by flats as inserts. My daughter is a HEAVY wetter and she can go up to 3 hours during the day with a flat and over night because I double up and use a blueberry Capri cover. We buy bamboo/cotton hybrid flats and use a pad fold.

microfiber is prone to compression leaks so I see why you're having problems. I did to when we first started, I understand your frustration! I recommend trying to build a stash of bamboo and hemp and completely rid the microfiber over time (they make great cleaning cloths, especially if you have a swiffer!). There's a brand on amazon for charcoal bamboo thatthe fairly cheap called Naturally Nurture. They do have a layer of microfiber sewn into the middle but they're not as prone to compression leaks as straight microfiber. If you want just bamboo, the only brand I have tried that can I recommend from personal experience are Funky Fluff inserts. You can buy them separetely from the diaper new in packs of two, or your best would be to join a fb funky fluff bst group so you can get them cheaper. I personally use these in all of my diapers because of how aborant they are. For hemp inserts, these can be more expensive, but I like to buy from a wahm on eBay. I always go through seller Children_10. Her inserts are thin, but they work great. Just remember hemp is not absorbant than microfiber and bamboo but slower absorbing, so you can't use hemp alone. You always have to pair it when something, and always under the faster absorbing insert to prevent leak (microfiber and bamboo). Another great option for nighttime is zorb. Zone is a blend of cotton, bamboo  and hemp and great for heavy wetter. I also use these paired with either bamboo and hemp or a flour sack towel (also great and super cheap!!) and hemp. You can buy these on eBay and etsy. The seller on etsy i usually buy from appears to be out of business, but just read reviews before buying and you'll be fine (:
