Can I change my daughters last name?

My boyfriend and I got pregnant at 18. She's now 4 months old and he left us. We decided when she was born that she would gethis last name. Now that she has his last name, and we broke up, am I allowed to change her last name to mine? We were never married.. but she has his last name its on her birth certificate

my father left when i was one i wish more than anything i didnt have his last name attachrd to my name. if you change her name you should still go after him for chikd support because its his job to support that baby even if he doesnt want to be in that babies life.

If you change her last name, I don’t think you should fill for child support.  You can’t pick and chose which parts he’s involved in.

If you are going to have her the most, it’s worth changing. You have to pick her up from all events in her life, it’s easier when your last names match. Not to mention if you travel and need to show any documentation. That’s my response to those wondering why you would bother. 
It may be difficult to do, but if it makes sense for your situation it may be worth doing.

well, if you have any last know address, use it to file paperwork to request the change and serve him. if he fails to show.. you win by default and are granted your request. I suggest you file for child support and custody and ask for legal decision making or final say, if he truly just walked away and doesn't care.

I just don’t understand why, I mean everyone has their own opinion of course.  My daughter’s father and I split when she was a year old. It was a bad breakup. I never thought about changing her last name to mine. Idk this is just me.

I would want my child to have my name. It’ll save you a lifetime of paperwork headaches. I’d change it too. I know it’s a process, but I don’t know how it works. Good luck!

Is he not in her life anymore? If he still is and takes care of her when he has her then this would be a very petty thing to do but if he isn’t in her life anymore then yeah do what you want.
