What is the best IUD for someone who’s never used had one and doesn’t have kids?

I’ve never used any form of birth control aside from condoms. My husband and I are not ready for kids and are done with condoms. I know I won’t remember to take a pill so we are thinking an IUD will work best for us. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Depends. Before choosing, I was deciding between mirena and paragard. I went with paragard because it’s the only 100% natural and hormone fee option. Mirena is low in hormones, but I was afraid of it messing with my anxiety, panic disorder and depression which is why I was switching anyway. I was on the xulan patch before. I’ve had paragard for a year now and the only issues I have sometimes is ovarian cysts due to not having added hormones to treat them, but I’ve had to deal with them for a while, even before I ever went on birth control, so I manage. And my period is still not normal and I get acne before my period, but as long as I’m eating right and keeping up on hygiene, it goes away fairly fast.

I had the Mirena for 4 1/2 years. I loved it. Id most definitely have it again after I have a baby. I had horribly heavy periods before i got it inserted, and after insertion my periods were light to none! It helped with my acne, and my weight.

I had the Mirena fitted and loved it. Zero side effects and I had no bleeding whatsoever for the 5 years I had it (then the next 2 years on the next one!!). The only warning I'd give is that it hurt like a bitch on insertion...when putting in the new one my new doctor admitted I shouldn't have been offered it as they (NHS in the UK) prefer not to give the coil to women who haven't had babies as the cervix is still very tight and it makes it extremely painful. I passed out a lot, needed to be carried home and had SEVERE period like cramping for a few days. After that it was amazing for me!
