Collapsed corpus luteum (left ovary)...? What does this mean

When I went for my scan at five weeks and 5 days. They said everything seemed to be fine. But they just don't know how far I am so will need to come back next week. Then looking at the notes I saw collapsed corpus luteum. What does this mean?

Don't worry, ask your doctor if concerned. A corpus luteum is what they call a functional cyst. When you ovulate the eggs collect into little cysts and burst, that's called the corpus luteum. Somwtimes it grows a little bigger, fills with blood and can be a bit sore but then generally it will collapse on its own again. So it's a normal finding and nothing to worry about.
