How Long After Stopping Pill?

Question

My husband and I recently discussed trying for our first baby! I have been on the pill for years, and recently my DR. had me start taking it constantly-no placebo pills in between- to help with my migraines (been doing so for 3 months now, not due for a 'period' till next month).

​How long should I go off the pill before trying? Anyone else have this experience? I'm new to all of this!

I was told to wait one full cycle, so when I had my withdrawal bleed your suppose to wait for your next bleed. I didn't bother waiting and I stopped my pills April 20, had a withdrawal bleed from April 23-26, then I ovulated May 23 and I got my BFP on June 3rd. It's all different for everyone right. It's just a try and see.

I went off the pill May 3rd and had my withdrawal bleed. My next period came a whopping 34 days later which made me very nervous because I'd read that it could take up to a year for your period to regulate and for you to ovulate. I say, go off the pill now to give your body time to regulate. You can always use condoms if you're not quite ready for baby.

Everybody's different, it can take months for your hormones to normalize or no time at all.

​About the migraines, I'd suggest trying chiropractic. I went from near daily migraines to 1-2 a month, and the intensity is much less on those I do get. Cheaper and more effective than anything else I tried.

I am around the same, took my last BC pill the last week in August&been on BC @ 6 years. Started TTC#1 around October & no luck yet! I am using multiple apps, BBT (which confuses me) & Ovulation kits!

My cycles are still fairly regular so far, just a few days off, but you'll probably end up with late periods for a while at least, so just be aware that a late AF doesn't mean much yet. Definitely get off BC sooner than later, and as for migraines, I think my dad drinks green tea for his migraines.. Unfortunately, can't drink green tea if you get pregnant, so might not be a good idea to start that while TTC.. But I think exercise is also good for migraines.

I recently got off the pill in may. After the placebo pills, I got my period and just didn't restart them. Currently I haven't had any bleeding. My breast are sore so I feel like it's coming as I'm due in 2 weeks. My sister was on birth control for 15 years, got off and was pregnant a month later. It really varies for different people

I was on BC for a looooong time. It took a full 12 months to conceive and I lost that pregnancy to MC. Be prepared for your cycle to take a while to sort itself out before you conceive... But also be prepared for you to conceive straight away :)

I was on BC for almost 9 years and i stopped in April and never got my period. My Dr. Prescribed provera in june for 10 days to jump start my period. Although i got my period after just taking 3 pills.

Well, been off my pill for 3 days now: started spotting today; backache, cramps, whole 9 yards! That came back quick lol

I just went off the pill in May too after 7 years. We aren't TTC yet but I was nervous it might take some time for my cycles to regulate. (The doctor told me it was fine to start right away though.) My first cycle off BC was 27 days with O on day 16/17. This cycle (my 2nd) O was on day 20 or so. I can tell my body is adjusting, but I feel grateful it hasn't been as all over the place as I feared it might be. I hope giving myself time to adjust will help me know my body better so we can get pregnant quickly when we try in the fall, though we'll see. Best wishes to you!
