Should I break up with him??

So me and my boyfriend have been dating for a year and 5 months. It might sound weird but we haven’t talked in 4 months. His friend told me over summer break that he doesn’t have a phone so that explains why we haven’t talked for 4 months. Summer break usually lasts for two months so for the past two months during school he’s been avoiding me. Every time I would try to talk to him he’d go the opposite way of the direction he’s walking or walk right past me. Then, I recently found out that he did have a phone and that he lied. So, I decided to text him asking if we can talk three days ago. Guess what? I haven’t got a text back. I’m guessing he’s ignoring me and avoiding me. I don’t even know what to do anymore. People say he shouldn’t be doing that to me and whatnot. I really love him and don’t want to lose him but people say that I should break up with him. It’s hard for me to think about losing him because we’ve been together for a year. Can I have any advice on what to do?
