sleeping through the night

I've been desperately trying to get my son to sleep through the night he still wakes up 2 to 3 times a night. i asked his Dr and all he told me was "well its your fault you know you need to not go in they're and baby him he needs to cry it out and learn how to deal with it himself" i dont really like the cry it out method and Will be switching doctors cause this current one is a douche but i decided to try tonight since nothing else had worked so we got home amd tried and my poor baby cried so hard he threw up everywhere. ive decided to try night weaning him and will see if yhat starts to help but how have you guys got your babies to sleep yhrough the night. i dont really care if he can self soothe i don't mind putting him to bed i just want him to sleep through the night.
