Pull out with IUD during ovulation?

I've had my mirena IUD for a week and I'm ovulating right now. My doctor said the IUD was effective immediately, but I've only had it 7 days so I want to make sure. Would you think it's safe to use pull out method during ovulation with my IUD or should I double up with a Condom?
