Fibromyalgia & a dismissive husband.
I've had fibromyalgia for 12 years I am 28 and was diagnosed when I was 16. I have a plethora of other illnesses as well, mostly issues with my stomach and mental health. My husband does HVAC for a living and hurt his back and is in excruciating pain, and I told him I know how you feel. That's how I feel everyday, except not just in my back. I was just trying to tell him I get it and I understand and his responses were "it's different" "your pain IS NOT like this" "it's in your head, my back will probably need surgery." I was just trying to tell him I can empathize the feeling of being in excruciating pain. And he just dismissed me and tells me I don't understand. And I told him the reason you can't tell I'm in pain like that is because after 12 years I've learned to appear as if I am always okay. I never even let him see me cry from pain. I am just very hurt and upset that he doesn't think I'm in excruciating pain everyday.
