first period pp

are all first periods pp really heavy? i'm 12weeks pp and I thought I already had my period since I've had some bleeding, but I've read several posts saying that the first pp is usually really heavy and painful. the bleeding I've had has just been light and lasts a few days then goes away. but then again maybe its just the mini pill making me bleed..
