Sleeping with a blankie

My son will be 7 months next week. He was getting into the habit of nursing to sleep, and needing comfort throughout the night so we started sleep training last night. So far so good. I also made him a small crocheted blankie with a breathable stitch for a comfort object. I gave it to him and he curled up around it and fell asleep. But now I can't sleep because I am worried about it! Surely this object is safer than when he sleeps in bed with us, right? He can crawl and is very mobile in all ways. Does your baby get a comfort object in bed?
