Possible Leukemia. UPDATE!!
This past weekend was a whirlwind for me. Friday my son had his blood drawn to check up on his low white blood count (it was low on his 9 month check up, he’s 15 months now). As it turns out, his Neutrophils are pretty low and his Lymphocytes are slightly high.
At first I didn’t really understand what all of that meant until his pediatrician told me she is making an appointment to see a Hematologist at University of Kentucky Children’s Hospital. Yes I know, this doesn’t necessarily mean he has Leukemia. But it is definitely a possibility.
My husband and I are nervous and heartbroken, to think our baby boy could have a terrible disease. As a mother this is my biggest fear. Before I ever had my son, my biggest fear was me having cancer and now that he’s here, I would take it all away and make it me instead of him in an instant.
As of now, we are waiting to hear of his appointment date, hopefully we hear something tomorrow. We are trying our best to stay positive and pray that he will be okay. If anyone has any tips or advice, feel free to share. Thank you. 🙏🏼
UPDATE
Hey everyone so sorry it has taken me so long to update you guys. I’ve been very busy with Christmas shopping and other things.
GREAT NEWS! Connor doesn’t have Leukemia! The Hematologist said this type of Neutropenia most kids his age grow out of it within a few months. Also while we were there his levels had went up from his last home doctor visit which is amazing. We do however have to go back on February 16th for a follow up. The Hematologist wasn’t in the least little bit concerned while we were there, he made us feel very comfortable and relieved.
I will update everyone after his February appointment. Thank you to those who have prayed for my baby boy. ❤️
