Induction Opinion / Experience ?

Question

i'm due the 1st, no signs of labor so far but my doctor offered induction for the 2nd, or the 9th. what would be the best option? wait for it to start on its own, or just go ahead with induction?

I say wait for it! I know it's hard to wait and I have had to fight against my urge to agree to being induced! I just feel like my delivery will go smoother and faster if I wait!

Some studies suggest labor starts when Baby's lungs have developed adequately to handle life out here so it's technically best for Baby to wait as long as possible. 
Yes, babies can be born and induced earlier and they can come out healthy and good! But just knowing that they might struggle even a little if they're not fully cooked would keep me away from inducing too early, personally. It's obviously a totally personal choice

I have been induced with my boys and plan on one with my lo. I dont think that it causes more pain or anything like that.

It really comes down to your personal choice... I will say this, I was induced with my first and it wasn’t a very good experience. However I also wasn’t even dilated to a 1 and I wasn’t effaced, so my body at the time was 100% not ready for labor. I was induced at 39.5, and she came out completely healthy.
Tomorrow I turn 39 weeks, and my doctor is checking me for progress. I was “barely” dilated last week, so he’s hoping I have dilated more so he can do a membrane sweep. He has already asked me about whether I want to set up an induction date, and even though I didn’t like my first experience, I’ve already made up my mind that I’ll be getting induced on my due date if he hasn’t came yet. 
Induction is a very personal decision and just like with all things related to pregnancy/birth/parenthood, you will find people who are very much for it or very much against it.

I am on the opposite side of things and have no problem with induction. I am due the 14th and already have an induction date set for the 9th. though I am dialated to a 3 and 75% effaced as of last Monday with lots of contractions this week so I'm sure I'm even more along now. so I may not make it to my induction date
my water broke with my first and I still had to be induced though because contractions just weren't coming after 4 hours. Other then the contractions being pretty bad, I had a very smooth delivery. it wasn't as bad for ME as people say. but that was my experience. 
if it were me I would look at where you are with dialation and effacement if that has been progressing along as well as you're just plain uncomfortable look into doing it on the 2nd. if not you can opt for the 9th or not at all.
ultimately it comes down to you and how you feel, don't let anyone make you feel bad for your decision as well
