Is lamictal a good anti depressant?

My Dr prescribed me Lamictal today and I was wondering if any of you guys have taken this medicine and what you have to say about it.

Lamictal has absolutely saved my life. I have Borderline Personality Disorder, Bipolar || (manic depressive), PTSD and anxiety. I have been suicidal for the lot of a decade and have tried over a dozen different medications. Lamictal has been the only thing that has helped.
It is an antipsychotic, though. Not an antidepressant, so if you have any major mood swings, it should absolutely help. It could help keep your depression lows stable.
But something to note, the first week on it can be rough, and DO NOT SKIP A DOSE. I have missed a dose on accident a couple times and I was severely suicidal. You have to stay on taking it every day.

I was on it for 10 years and it changed my life. That and some CBT/DBT, and growing up. Very few side effects unless you skip a dose and then horrible --don't skip a dose! And make sure you're on a therapeutic dose (my first psych had me on 50mg which does nothing, I then went up to 300mg with my next psych and it was finally effective). I was on it for mood swings (bipolar II; PTSD; borderline borderline haha) and it really helped me just slow impulsive reactions down. When I went off 1.5 yrs ago t quickly became clear that it had also been covering up/treating some WICKED PMDD that I hadn't had when I started it in my early-mid 20s. Anyway, give it a try! Just take every dose when scheduled.
