Chronic Cough

SO, my little one (1 years old) had a very bad chronic cough. It's to the point where it's waking him up out of his sleep. Just wondering what special remedies do you guys use to help with it.

We tried the steam shower thing and he hated it because he was hot.

And i also have baby Vicks on his chest and feet .

He was seen by the ER today but they ruled it out to be his Asthma and gave him steroids to help with his lungs, we see his pediatrician this week.
