Fell pregnant?

I'm not ranting or complaining, just genuinely asking why people use the phrase "fell pregnant". To me it sounds almost negative, like "I'm down with the flu" or something. Just wondering if it's cultural because I'd never heard it before coming to this app. Thanks

It's a European/Australian way of saying "got pregnant."

I always thought when people used the term 'fell pregnant' it's because they weren't trying or they weren't expecting it, it just happened. It's not necessarily something they wanted. I don't find it negative but I understand where you're coming from! 😊

Agree, it's a European thing. They have so many other words and phrases that we don't use in the U.S. ;)

It means to get pregnant. 
I have heard my grandmother from Ireland use it.
