Dear 'mom'

Dear 'mom',

Why couldnt you be the mother you were supposed to be? Why did you let that monster hurt me? Why did you make me raise my siblings while you went and did whatever it was that you were doing? Why did you steal my childhood? Why did you keep us in a drug house? Why was every man more important than us? Why were our needs second to yours? Why didnt we have christmas those years? Why was i left with a boy a didnt even know all alone in a city i was unfamiliar with? Why didnt you answer your phone? Why did you say i was a mistake? Why didnt you help with my wedding? Why did you leave my wedding with your new boyfriend and go to another bar? Why didnt you tell me i was beautiful? Why didnt you help me get ready for the biggest day of my life?...

These are only a few of the questions i ask myself everyday. Im sorry i wasnt your 'dream child'. Im sorry it was because i was born that you didnt go to college, and im sorry you hate me.

But guess what? I hate you too. I tried for so many years to have a relationship with you and ive tried to forgive and forget. But you made that extremely hard. I have no room for toxic people like you in my life.
