How much Halloween candy do you allow your child to eat?

*some health conscious parents have their kids leave their candy at the foot of the bed so that the candy fairy can exchange it for a toy in the middle of the night (similar to tooth fairy concept).

When my son was younger, I let him eat all he wanted. Usually he'd pig out on Halloween night and then eat 1 or 2 pieces a day for a few days. After that he'd be so sick of candy that he wouldn't eat the rest. I found that by prolonging the candy eating and metering out a few pieces a day, it only made him want the candy more.
Now as a teenager, he has little interest in candy and maybe eats a few pieces of Halloween candy.
Of course it's different for all kids. Some just love candy, other are "meh" about it...

I let my kids have a piece or 2 a day for about a week and then whatever my husband hasn't ate I get rid of it all.

I think her and I ate 5 different things each (so far) tonight because why the hell not.
But, my daughter is really good with her candy. She picks one for her school lunch snack, and can have one when she’s home.

I say let them eat wat they want that night and the next day let them have some and the rest get rid of

My mom would let us have 2 pieces after dinner.  We had to have a "happy plate".  Basically all the food eaten on the plate.

i use it as a reward. but we only went one time. i use all their candy they get as a reward. if they are not good at school or home no candy.

The first night I let them kind of pig out while we watch Halloween movies. Then they get 1-2 pieces after dinner every night until it's gone.
