Tips ?!

So I'm having my tonsils and adnoids out ( sorry don't know if spelled correctly) and I'm a little nervous I can search it up but I'd like to know if anyone has had this done just to know from experiences

I had mine out when I was twenty and I was lucky enough to know a friend who also had her out when she was older so she gave me lots of advice.  You will feel pretty good for the first few days, like you can eat somewhat normally and you will think it wasn't so bad.    Do not be fooled! The worst part starts at about day 5 when the scabs start to form and get more dry.  Treat the first few days like there is already lots of pain and avoid scratchy foods to allow your scabs the best chance of forming.  I finally felt better and ate noodles on day 16 after surgery.  I also recommend waking up every couple hours throughout the night to drink some water.  The drier your scabs get the more painful it seems to be.   I also found that I needed to avoid all of the sweet drinks and jello the doctor recommended because it made my saliva really thick and difficult to swallow. They also recommend that you sleep somewhat sitting up so set up a place or two in your home for this beforehand.

Good luck! It sucks but at least you can spend some quality time with Netflix! And hopefully your days of sore throats will behind you forever :)

I work for an ear nose and throat specialist. I'm not sure how old you are but the older you get, the worse this surgery will be. I don't want to scare you, just want to be realistic because i see adults daily who are following up after. It's very painful and you will need some down time so make sure to plan ahead. They should give you liquid pain medication which will help a lot though. Goodluck to you!

I had tubes and adenoids at 5 and was perfectly fine and tonsils at 16 and was fine then too. Lots of rest and cold liquids for a while and no talking

How old are you? I had my tonsils out about three years ago, in my late 20's. I don't want to scare you, but it was awful! I was told the younger you are, the easier the recovery.

I had them removed due to frequent tonsillitis and that has been much better now that I'm tonsil free!

I was in middle school and everything went well. After 10 days they say you're allowed to eat real food again but from my memory it was still hard to swallow real food. Of course you can't talk for a few days. Lol I tried the first day...
