Can anyone help me understand ?

 Okay so on the 14th of may I started getting symptoms as if my body was gearing up for ovulation . I'm breast feeding and my periods have been every six weeks or so since I started my first postpartum period in January. I waited two weeks expecting AF . I had cramping but never had a period . I waited two more weeks and finally broke down and took a test only to have an ugly evap , then I woke up to AF yesterday morning . I'm not sure if I actually ovulated but if I did then why would I not get my period for another month ? I never had symptoms Of ovulating any other time that month ..
