My November 1st baby turned into a Halloween baby!!!

Kaitlin

My birth story:

I went to bed around 10pm on October 30th, then woke up at 11:30 feeling cramps... I tried to get comfortable, tried using the bathroom... finally woke my husband up at 12:30am he sweetly drew me a bath 🛀🏻 I lasted maybe 10mins. We headed downstairs and continued to count my contractions.... At 2:30 my husband called labor and delivery. We tried taking a short walk around the block. I made it 3 houses and told my husband I wanted to turn around. We got back to the house and continue to count the contractions. We finally decided to head to the hospital which is about 10mins from our house... Got put in a room around 3:30am on October 31st. The nurse checked me and I was 4cm dilated and 90% effaced. The midwife suggested we walked around the hospital or get in the shower... I chose to walk around stopping every so often to let a contractions pass. Around 7am I got checked again and I was 6.5cm the nurse and midwife said I fooled them because my face wasn’t showing the pain. I got in the shower and just let the water run over my belly. I was in the shower for maybe 15mins, and the day shift nurse showed up and asked what my plan was. I told her I might need an epidural she got everything set up for me then the midwife checked me again I was 7.5 at 8:30ish. The midwife let me know a birthing tub came available, so I decided to hold off on the epidural and got in the tub. The nurse dimmed the lights, lit some flameless candles, and had my husband turn on some music of our choosing. Soon after I told my husband I think it was time to push... he ran and got the nurse and she asked if I wanted to move to the bed, but I told her I wasn’t moving! She told me the midwife was delivering another baby and would be with me soon. My husband sweetly tried to rub my back and I swatted his hand away... I did not want to be touched! The midwife finally came in and I pushed for about 20 min and our sweet boy was finally here at 10:45 am on October 31st! I can’t believe how fast things went and that I did it without an epidural 😅🙌🏼👶🏻 I never thought I would have a water birth, but I’m so happy with how everything turned out! I really owe it to

my husband and our very kind and calming nurse! If it wasn’t for our nurse Lois I don’t think things would have been amazing as it was... A good nurse makes all the difference! 👩🏻‍⚕️
