Should I eat it? SOS help!

Question

Ok, second time mama here and first pregnancy I didn't eat deli meat and this time around I'm in a wedding and they are catering jimmy johns at the church for lunch. There isn't a microwave in sight...is it fine to eat one sandwich? I don't know what to do :( help mamas! They don't know I'm pregnant and I don't want to tell them on their wedding day...

Eat it!  My doctor says the lunch meat thing is out of date now.  After reading about it on the CDC website, you are more likely to get it from produce, ice cream and soft cheese.  There hasn’t been a listeria outbreak from deli meat since the 1990s.

I ate subway all the time when I was pregnant with my twins.  Had my first ham sandwich today at 11w3d with this baby (all we have in the house).  Pretty sure I’m not dead yet. 😂

I eat publix subs almost everyday 😂😂😂 did my last pregnancy and doing it now as well. Eat girl 👍🏼👌🏼  the only thing i don't eat in my pregnant state is raw anything and alcohol. Everything else is yummy yummy in my tummy. 3rd time mummy.

I’ve been craving Jimmy Johns and Subway but the thought of heating up the meat grosses me out so I’ve just been eating I️t cold. I’ve read some of the research on listeria and in recent years most of the cases have been in produce - and you can’t just tell pregnant women not to eat fresh produce! So I don’t know why lunch meat gets singled out. Plus even still it’s very very rare. My thought is: if I️ was 100% safe from listeria if I️ always heated up my meat or avoided I️t then maaaaybe I️ would avoid I️t more. But you can do all those things and still get listeria from the cucumbers on your sandwich so, I’m just gonna risk I️t within reason (only reputable places).  But I️ get that it makes some people feel better. Good luck regardless of what you decide to do!

With my first two pregnancies I didn’t eat lunch meat but this time around I have been and I haven’t had any issues.

I was so anal about what not to eat the first time but this time I’m more relaxed about it. As long as you’re eating deli meat that’s fresh and reliable, you should be fine!

Thank you all for responding! Here is an update!!! My phone died or I would have wrote this earlier...
The room we were in yesterday was the room I thought we would be in as groomsmen (I was a groomswoman). It wasn't...and this hidden room was the church's communion prep room so it had a small kitchen WITH a microwave!! :) I left the table after grabbing my jimmy johns, warmed up the meat, and devoured it!! :) ha! I was so hungry! I didn't really like the hot meat, but I felt better eating it :) success! :) again thank you all for your comment, I felt like you were all their for me! :)

I would eat it, I've eaten plenty of deli meats with both pregnancies and everyone is fine.

I'm sure there will be other food. No wedding would just serve sandwiches to their guests.
