If you’re ttc as someone else commented, but to elaborate, it’s important to prep your body as much as possible for a fetus. Folic acid in your system prior to conception is an excellent way to reduce the likelihood of birth defects, for example.
Of course, not all birth defects are preventable just by taking prenatal vitamins, and it’s not to say that a birth defect is ever the mother’s fault, unless the mother is actively using drugs or something...then all bets are off.

I used prenatals before I got pregnant for hair and nail growth. Without specifically trying I did end up pregnant while still taking them also.
