contractions or poop?

Question

for the past couple hours ive been having the urge to go poop, but i go use it and nothing comes out.(sorry tmi) could these be contractions or just that im constipated? ftm, im 39 weeks and 3 days. i have been loosing part of my plug and had a bloody show after my cervix exam 2 days ago so not sure if blood was from the exam 😞 last time i was 3.5 cm dilated.

It’s possible that you are in the early stages on labour. Bowel movements and being constipated can trigger contractions as it can aggravate the uterus. And it is possible that these develop into labour. 
It could also fizzle out. If you struggling with the constipation for a couple hours then I would go see the doctor and hopefully they can give you something to get things moving. Going into labour constipated is not fun.

If they're contractions, you'll be able to time them and notice a pattern. Real labor contractions will start to get closer together and last a little longer. If there's no pattern to what you're experiencing, it's probably not labor
