Menstrual cups?

So I want to make the switch to menstrual cups, but... I have no clue which one to buy! I'm afraid of buying one that is too long/big or uncomfortable.

Have you had kids? If not, you're a size one. If you have had kids, you're a size two.

The cup has a long, skinny tube thing on the end which is meant to help you pull the cup out, but apparently my cervix sits a little lower than some, so I trimmed the tube thing off and have had no problems with it :)

I got the lunette model 2 last period and it's been great. This will be my first full cycle of using it. I did have to use tampons yesterday because for the life of me I couldn't get the damn thing in right. People really aren't kidding when they say if you're tense you can't do it. But beyond that it's awesome. Today and tomorrow are my heaviest days so I check it more often then normal to gauge how long I can go. But definitely Worth the 40$

The first step is learning your body. How low or high is your cervix? When you insert your finger into your vagina, you'll feel something sort of like the tip of your nose, that's your cervix. If you can't feel it your cervix is high, if you can insert your finger to your middle knuckle and feel your cervix its average, if it's right at the entrance its low. Check a couple times a month because it can move. Most women find that their cervix drops lower during menstruation.

Another thing to consider is your flow. If it is heavy you will want a cup with a larger capacity and vice versa.

I reccomend typing "menstrual cup comparison" into google and looking at the different charts. Find one with what you think you need (shorter length for low cervix, longer length for higher cervix. Larger capacity for heavy flow, smaller capacity for lighter flow). By comparing them all at once you can see a range of cups and get an idea about the average measurements. Once you narrow it down, watch reviews on YouTube.

In the end, you'll just have to pick one and try it. Don't give up on it right away if you can't get it to work or it doesn't feel right. If it's still not working after a few cycles you might have to try something different.  If money is an issue there are people willing to buy/trade a used cup that has been sterilized.

There are tons of YouTube reviews! My first cup was the Eva cup. It was a cheaper brand on Amazon. I love it but I need to switch to a firmer cup. Menstrual cups are tricky for me but they are affordable in the long run!

I bought the diva cup.  I tried it and it's just not for me.  Emtying it and cleaning it completely grossed me out.  If you can get past that part then go for it!  I got the size 2 because I have had two children vaginally
