Suggestion for Gestational Diabetes Meals on the go
Not all of us cook or can sometimes find the time to cook so I thought I’d share some foods that have helped me out tremendously. Some of us spend months with the diagnosis and you may want to eat out every once in awhile.
In the mornings
Jimmy Dean bowls are great. Usually at about 15 to 18g of carbs and I get Great readings.
Starbucks iced or hot skinny cinnamon dolce latte
McDonald’s English muffin with whatever toppings you prefer. I take off one side of the English muffin and the readings are good.
For lunch or dinner I can have chik fila three or four strips with a side salad and ranch dressing. I usually get the diet lemonade which tastes like regular lemonade to me.
You can Also get the grilled chicken sandwich which comes on a whole wheat bun. It wasn’t my cup of tea but I got good readings when I did try it.
McDonald’s quarter pounder with a side salad and Diet Coke
McDonald’s Big Mac with a side salad
Burger kings whopper Jr with cheese and bacon
Stouffers frozen lasagna.
Taco Bell chicken or steak quesadillas
This isn’t meant to show you what you should be eating daily so please no attacks. My sugar levels are great ( my midwife congratulated me this week) and sometimes I’m in a bind and thought I’d share with others.
To curb my sweet tooth I use yasso frozen Greek yogurt bar during my snack.
I also found for special occasions cakes two separate kinds of cake. Splenda sweetened cheesecake from Harris teeter and butter cream cake at Publix also sugar free.
