Best night with my “crush”

So I’m really close to this guy. He’s a senior, I’m a sophomore. Lately, he had been super distant and I was kinda hurt but at the same time I knew it was best because after graduation, he’s going straight to the air force. I can’t do that to myself or him. After a final win for our football team, everyone ran out on the field celebrating. I hung around with him casually talking and realized there were about 20 people left on the field and they started cutting off lights. I hugged him and told him bye and started walking away but he ran up behind me and hugged me. It turned out, he was going the same way so he put his arm around me and we walked to his truck. I know things will never work with us and he knows the same thing even though he likes me and I like him. He put the tailgate down on his truck and I hopped up on it and was sitting there. He got up there with me and laid his head down on my lap even though it was difficult because he’s 6’7” and I’m 5’4”😂. (keep in mind.. I had never been that close with him so I was happy). He started apologizing for being distant and talking about how much he actually cared about me. My dad was still in the stadium talking to friends and by the time I looked at my phone, an hour had passed. He had been laying on my lap and we had been talking about super deep things for at least an hour. I got a text from my dad asking where I was and I told him I had to go. When I got off the truck, he grabbed me and kissed me. I know things won’t work but it was honestly the best night. He told me he never wanted to lose me and wishes things could actually work out. He hugged me again and kissed me on the forehead and I left smiling more than ever. It was the smallest thing but it made me more happy just to talk than I can explain. Best night in a while. 💕
