BIRTH CONTROL W/ RELIGIOUS PARENTS
Hello everyone!!
So I'm 17 years old and I just recently started having sex with my boyfriend of 2 years, and right now we only use condoms to prevent pregnancy. The first time we had sex the condom slipped off after he came and was pulling out (I made a post about that a few weeks ago) and it was a pretty stressful time between then and now, when I just got my period. We don't want to have to have any more scares like that, so I need to get on some form of birth control.
Little story on my birth control history, I used to use the Xualine (I think that's what it was) patch to regulate my periods, but we didn't realize that my family has a history of estrogen and hormone sensitivity. Within 3 months of me starting it, I had multiple life threatening blood clots in my lungs and legs. So now I have to be extremely careful with taking birth control. They did a lot of blood work after that, and they ruled out me having any blood clotting disorders.
SO! Now that I'm sexually active and trying to prevent pregnancy, I firmly believe I need to get back on some sort of birth control. The problem here is that both my parents are extremely religious (Christian) and conservative. I want to go to my mom and talk to her about this, but she waited until marriage to have sex and strongly believes that pre-marital sex is a sin. My boyfriends parents are Mormon, so it's a very similar situation there as well. So what I'm wondering from all of you is what should I do?
Right now what I'm thinking of doing is getting a copper IUD since it's non hormonal, and it lasts a super long time. Correct me if I'm wrong, but since I'm under 18 I may qualify to get it for free? Do I need someone to go with me? Has anyone else dealt with this? Any help is appreciated, thank you in advance ☺️❤️
