Yes, once I became friends with a guy I liked and we would hang out with mutual friends or sometimes just each other , text each other and once in a while someone would ask if we were dating and he would defensively  say “No we are just friends”. Then he got a girlfriend introduced her to me and I would hangout with him as friends and she was friendly to me, but I was kinda jealous so I didn’t hangout with him as often as before because she was usually was around. Then when they broke up me and him were still friends just not as close as before. (I was friendly towards his girlfriend but I also tried to avoid her as she wanted to be friends with me).
     Another example is a teammate of mine who I have been friends with since 5th grade who is like a brother to me when he got a girlfriend I became good friends with her and I now hangout with her more than him. She gets that we are like family to each other.

One of my very best friends is a man. He and my husband have become friends also. 
A funny back story. My brother (the best friend) was married to a girl that I had known for years before she met him. They were on and off and then finally got married. Well, she sweet talked him into an open marriage. She then proceeded to move another man into their marital bed and kicked my brother onto the couch. 
Needless to say, they divorced. He tells everyone that he won me in the divorce because I stood up for him and I ended that friendship because I didn’t support her decisions. 
He stood up at the alter on my husband’s side with me on our wedding day. He jokes with my husband. He even packed heat at my wedding because he knew it would make me laugh and feel safe since my husband’s ex wife is CRAZY! 
I don’t know what I would do without my brother. He has seen me through so many things in our lives, and I couldn’t be happier. And I couldn’t ask for a better uncle for my stepson and my daughter. ❤️
