Shocking voyage of male infertility...

So many things have happened over the last few months that have left my jaw on the floor... I really give myself credit for being a good sport!

After three weeks of phone calls to get an appointment scheduled for a second consult for my husbands zero sperm diagnosis his primary care doctor refused to give us a referral to the specialist in Boston recommended by my doctor! - crisis averted- My husband changed his primary care to mine and she did the referral.

At the consult I was informed that after the TESE procedure I would be the medical courier driving the sample to the lab - imagine driving on a highway with a giant cooler in your passenger seat nerve-racking!

Getting to the lab the receptionist chastised me as to why my husband wasn’t dropping off his own tissue sample I tried to briefly explain that he was in recovery but she shunned me to sit amongst the IVF couples!

That day we got bad news zero cells to work with.. it was shocking but what was more shocking was two days later when the lab called my husband to try to debt collector for the test!

We are now exploring donor sperm we have very good insurance that covers most fertility related issues however I have questions about how the testing of the donated sperm works etc. I called my insurance carrier and they told me they would send me a write up however what I got was the same giant manual already have- I swear you have to be a genius to understand everything written in these!

These are just some of the hurdles -

I am shocked when they call you to tell you that you can’t have your own biological children they don’t suggest any counseling or follow up with a list of counselors that specialize in dealing with this...
