Bf problems & I need advice!!

So my bf and I have been together for 5yrs and have known each other for over 8yrs. Right now he’s living with my mother and I because she wasn’t able to work and we moved in with her to take care of her. I’m at the point in life where I feel like him and I are forcing things to work and it’s been this way for about 3yrs... I want to break up with him but I don’t have the heart to because he’s have no where to go, no ride to work, he’s got no money saved up because he’s been helping me and my mom. I love him very much but I’ve come to realize we are better off as friends. What the f*** should I do???????
