how to know when im ovulating after getting off of birth control

just started TTC, went off of birth control before my last period (just started my first period after stopping birth control) when should I start testing for ovulation. I was reading some things that say I may not even ovulate for months. anyone with past experience to share? should I even bother testing this first month?

I'm trying to get pregnant as quickly as possible (obviously most are) because of my work. if I can't get pregnant in the next two months we will need to stop trying and wait for about 6 months.

so any advice is extremely appreciated!
