Our surprise gender/tie-breaker baby turned out to be a BOY! I was induced at 41 weeks for being Post Dates, just like I was with my first two. I had GBS with this pregnacy so when I checked in, the nurses started my 4 hour antibiotic and started my pitocin. At that time, I was 4cm dilated.
My doctor came back after I had finished my antibiotic and broke my water. My contractions had quickly gone from uncomfortable to painful. She advised that if I wanted an epidural, now was the time to get one because I was 7-8cm dilated. I said yes to an epidural and the anesthesiologist was paged. Things suddenly moved very quickly and I felt pressure. The anesthesiologist still hadn’t come in and I knew he wasn’t going to get there in time. My doctor was called back STAT and I was ready to push by the time she ran into the room. Our boy came into the world 43 minutes after my water was broken. He weighs 8lbs 6oz and measures 21.1 inches long. I thought for sure that I was having a little girl, but we can’t be more in love with this handsome, beautiful boy!
