Tip for practicing removal. Training wheels.

Here’s a tip that really helped me get used to the cup. I had some hilarious experiences early in but now that I’m used to it I’ll never go back. I feel pretty empowered during my period now because it’s so easy to forget about it when I’m using my cup.

Anyway, if you have a cup with a ribbed stem like the Diva cup, you can tie some dental floss around the stem before you put it in. Make sure the floss is tied on really tight. Then tie some knots along the length of the stem to make sure you have some grip.

When you are ready to remove your cup, use the string to help move the cup down until you can get a good grip on the stem when the cup is low enough. As you use the stem to move the cup lower you will be then be able to squeeze the cup with your two fingers to break the seal and remove the cup.

Just knowing I had the string helped me relax enough to use my muscles to move the cup lower. Now that I’ve had some practice I don’t need the string anymore. Like training wheels!

Make sure to use fresh floss when you need too. Just use nail clippers to snip the floss off the stem and replace the string.

Sorry to post anonymous. I’m shy and new to this.
