So my friend just called and let me know about my principal not approving sick time for parents with kids...

A teacher had asked her what to file her child’s specialist appointment under when she files for an absence and the principal said “you don’t”... well she laughed and said “ok so what do I do?” And she said “you just don’t go”.... so I looked in our collective agreement for our school division (I’m a teacher)... and it says we get 4 sick days a year to use for our children’s illness or appointment.

Do you think employees should get days for their child’s illness and appointments? What do employers expect parents to do in the event of an appointment or illness?
