Inserted thermometer too far?

I took my LO's temp rectally and accidentally inserted the thermometer at about one inch or possibly sliiiightly more. He didn't cry or react and is totally fine now. Should I be worried or call the doctor?

If he didn't cry, and you didn't jab him with it, he's probably fine. Was there anything that gave you cause for concern?

It's not necessary to take their temp rectally, under the arm or forehead is just fine. If that's how you prefer to do it get a rectal thermometer that can't be inserted more than a safe amount.

My doctor tells me to do under the armpit and add a degree. Maybe that will help a little bit more.
