How often should you take a toddler to the dentist?

I took my 2 year old to the dentist when he was 15 months old. Not sure if I need to schedule him cleanings every 6 months once I take him back in January.

I am a pediatric expanded functions dental assistant (i do fillings) 42% of children 2-11 has cavities. It’s a good idea to get them use to going to the dentist and getting fluoride treatment once every 6 months. We start seeing children when they get they’re first teeth and follow their growth and development

My son was 1 when I started taking him every 6 months. He has perfect teeth. He's the only kid in his class that doesn't have silver teeth lol..he's 5 and I still help him brush to make sure he got everything 😁

My pediatrician said not til 3 yrs old. I’m down with that. My daughter will be so much more logical by then and I’ll be able to explain the process for a respectful encounter.

Looks like an expert commented already, but my understanding is that in the beginning years the visits are more about getting used to the dentist and taking a look, rather than a full on cleaning. My daughter didn’t get her first tooth until she was almost a year old so she was about 19 months when we brought her to the dentist for the first time. He indicated we didn’t need to come back for another year at least.
