Should society take a brake from having children to help overpopulation?

Do you think society should take a break from having children as a way to decrease overpopulation?                        Just looking for honest opinions. I saw someone on my FB post about this recently and was wondering how other people feel about it. They claimed that if one generation ceased having children that overpopulation would no longer be an issue.

The best way to curb overpopulation is to promote free, comprehensive sex Ed for all, free birth control for all, and cheap and accessible abortions. 
But y'all always want to turn to unrealistic, unenforceable eugenics lol.

No. I’m all for people opting to not have children for the sake of population or the environment, but it’s not realistic to expect everyone to stop and there is no ethical way to enforce it as a policy. Also, if an entire generation doesn’t have children then who is going to have them?

If  one whole generation stopped having children.... that's where the generations end......🤔 so,  sooner or later once everyone dies out, yes I believe that would help with over population.

No. There’s too many issues with that. I do favor tax incentives for those who choose to remain child free.

If one generation as a whole didn't have children, we'd go extinct... so i guess that would fix the 'problem'. But you'd never get a whole generation of people to agree to that. I think on the whole it's unrealistic and will likely never happen.

you can't make people not have kids. that's wrong on so many levels that I won't even get into.
there are other ways to control over population. like maybe removing warning labels on certain items. I'm not necessarily saying that's right either but there are better ways that won't piss as many people off

I’ve put yes but I don’t mean it from the point of some sort of enforcement to stop it but more it needs to become a more acceptable lifestyle choice to live child free. 
I have chosen a childfree life, partly due to medical issues, partly because OH has had a vasectomy, and partly because in my 30s even though I get broody it is not overwhelming enough for me to consider having a baby. The amount of people who seem to think it’s acceptable to ask me when I’m going to have a baby is ridiculous. Girls are all too often raised from a young age as well as believing they can only like pink, need to be pretty princesses, and that they will have children of their own one day. 
There is no teaching them that having children is a not only a choice but a perfectly acceptable choice at that, so many will grow up and have kids just because it’s the “normal” thing to do rather than because they want to. Boys are also taught that you have to have kids but not in the same way as girls are.

Well given those of us who are childfree are saving over 9000 tons of carbon emissions per child we don't have. I would say, that it needs to become more acceptable to not have children.
