Effexor- anyone taking this?

Ive taken so many meds in past that didn’t work. After relapsing into severe depression i just started this. What are you experiences with it? Side effects? Any Weight gain?

I’ve been on this for years and it really helps me tremendously. My OBGYN said it is safe to take during pregnancy and while TTC. I am a little nervous as we are in our second month TTC and I’ve read that antidepressants can greatly hinder your fertility. I was going to wait to try to come off it if we don’t have success within 6 months. Doctor said happy mom=healthy pregnancy but I’m not sure. It’s hard to decide what the best decision is :(

I’ve been on it for about a year now, only thing that’s helped me. Haven’t had any side effects and I decided to continue taking it through my pregnancy. It also helps with my fibromyalgia pain. I was told that it can increase your anxiety if you also have that but it helped mine. All you can do is try it and see, it can awhile to find the medication that works best for you.

I was on this for about 5 months and I loved it! I have tried all types of medication and this one worked best for me. I then got pregnant and had to switch to Prozac. The only side effect I got from it was blurry vision but it wasn't bad.

Ive also read that Effexor can double the rate of miscarriage. Anyone heard this?

I’m on Effexor (75mg) & Lamictal (100mg) My doctors said that Effexor is linked to birth defects like missing skull, & lung defects. It really helps me too, but I get scared reading testimonials where baby’s ended up having these birth defects. No other antidepressants work for me :-( I might just need to tough it out for 9 months. Anyone else on here that will continue it in pregnancy?

I was on this for a few years and it seemed to even me out. Whenever I accidentally forgot a pill I would feel sick and all my negative thought/emotions flooded back. I felt better after taking it though, but it was pretty scary for me.. Also- My med doctor told me i needed to switch to a different pill if I wanted to ttc because this pill can have negative side effects. It took me 2 weeks of horrible withdrawls and depression before I felt better. I am now taking Lamictal and it has worked great for me (using it for 2 years). Lamictal is said to be one of the safest meds for anxiety/depression especially when pregnant.

Effexor was one of the first antidepressants I was put on. It was good for about 3 months and then I went back down. There is something called a “peak” with medicines like this that usually happens at the 3-4 month mark. If during these months the feelings change then it probably won’t work for you and you will need to try something else. 
But everyone does react differently. It works great for a lot of people and then for some it doesn’t. Antidepressants are such a hit and miss thing. Someone told me they had to try 4-5 different kinds before they found the right one for them. 
Just take care of you when going through the changes. 
I made my now husband aware when I switched medicines so he could watch my behavior as an outsider because I didn’t realiZe when some of the changes started happening

dosage also plays a role in side effects
