How to get credit?

Okay so I’m 19 and literally no one in my life or school or anything explained any of this to me and it’s not as simple as google because you get 10 million dumb things that pop up. So if anyone could help! Right now I have no credit or that’s what credit karma says anyways 😂 thank you id appreciate it a lot! I’m doing super good on paying medical bills if that helps!!

get a credit card from your bank. my dad made me get one when I was 18 or 19 to establish credit.  pay it off every month and be careful not to overspend

get a small limit credit card. here's what my mom told me and now that I'm 26 it's been the best true advice. so the way credit works is dumb. but never pay off your full balance so like if you owe 100 on your card pay off like 90. always leave some sort of balance. credit bureaus want to see that you NEED lines of credit they don't want to see that you can live within your means. so always leave a SMALL balance. also never close an account, your credit will take a HUGE hit. so even if you pay off your card leave it open cut the card up if you don't want to use it anymore but don't close the account. LAST but MOST important. Make your payments on time ALL the time. But yeah start with a small limit card. whether it's from a store or capital one has small limit cards and they are great for 1st credit cards.

I would get a credit card through a department store for your first one. If you get one through your bank you're most likely to spend more money and end up in debt. My first was at kohls and it was a 250 limit. Then I raised it after a year of home paying it on time. I wouldn't do Macy's or and large store, I never got accepted. I also bought myself a bracelet financed that was 600$. My payments were 30 a month and that being paid and my kohls credits card being paid monthly, my credit was decent. And you just keep going from there.

get a credit card, try and use At least half the credit limit each month and pay off each month. that'll build your credit the fastest. credit is weird and so many factors play into it. paying your stuff off in a timely manner is good but the amount of time you've had certain lines of credit plays to it as well. if you really wanna know more of sit down with your banker, they can pull up your credit report and discuss different things to help. no credit is ALWAYS better than bad credit tho :)

Personal loans help, also look into getting a card that you pay on time, and never go over 30% of the limit. The goal isn't to show you have a blank credit slate but that you can use credit responsibly, like not maxing out cards and making payments.
