Merina IUD... anyone wanna offer some advice??

Ok so after 2 children and now on an educational journey to become an LPN I decided I needed to make a very important decision and make certain I don't mess up my career goals, so I got the Merina put in on the first day of my period. How long after getting the IUD did it take for your period or spotting to stop? I was warned I would have lots of cramping and discomfort for a few days to a week after placement and honestly I have had a bit better period than normal, however it's seems to be dragging on a little and a bit more clotting... no cramps or discomfort like I was warned... does anyone have any advice as to when I should expect to stop this period and when to expect occasional spotting as in monthly, bi-monthly, not often at all..
