Should you tell your child he/she was conceived through IVF??😳

Ok ladies, I got into a huge debate with friends/family about weather or not a child should know if they were conceived through IVF,, what are your thoughts on this??🤔

What child would not benefit from knowing their parents wanted them SO BADLY, they spent thousands of dollars, immeasurable energy and waited for an eternity to finally meet their beloved?

Yes but in an age appropriate way. When they are older it may be beneficial to them to know when they decide to have their own children.

well my older kids are 8, 10 and 15 I have explained to them all (because they asked) how are babies made. so I said "lots of ways! some times a
 dad helps a mom  make a baby, some times a mom helps two dads have a baby ( surrogate ) some times a dad helps two moms ( Doner ) and some times when things get really hard for a mom or a dad they go to the Dr and the Dr helps the parents make a baby (IVF/ICF) 
I kept it very simple for them and they were in awe like "wow that's so cool so many ways to make a baby!" lol I don't see any harm in non graphic explanations .

You don’t need to hide it but I️ wouldn’t teach them that is where babies come from right away. 
  
When your kid is old enough and ttc themselves, then you should probably tip them off.

Why not ? It’s part of their birth story. It’s one of many answers to the question “where do babies come from?” 
I plan on teaching my daughter proper anatomy/sex/fertility/reproductive education at age appropriate intervals throughout her life. I think it’s essential.

Why would they need to know that? It's not like an adoptive situation where you feel like they'd need to know... 
I could maybe see when they were adults and TTC themselves in case maybe a fertility issue arose due to genetics or something but not for any other reason besides that.

I am an IVF baby myself and I think you should tell them. I found out when I was 16 and I was upset that I wasn't told as I felt I should have a right to that information. Also it's getting a lot harder  to hide this kind of thing, sites like 23 and Me that analysis your genetics for a small fee are common now and could be an easy give away. My advice is to tell the child as they are grown up so that it's totally normalised.

I mean, if you want to tell them, yeah. Especially if you do so in a way that shows the positive side of your journey to conceive. 
What shouldn't happen is, "Do you have any idea how hard I worked to get you! Be grateful!" guilt tripping. Like some mothers repeatedly using the length of labor and the struggle of their pregnancies to guilt adult children for doing something they disagree with.

We don't tell anyone we did IVF, so we will tell the kids when they are much older and mature, and then it will be their decision if they want anyone knowing or not.
