If a women does have a period while pregnant?...

Question

I've heard that women can have their periods while pregnant, however many mistake a light spotting to be their period.  My question is, do they bleed heavy and have regular menstrual symptoms or is it like light spotting like implantation?

It wasn't a period because I was pregnant but I had 3 days of period like bleeding each month until I was 7 months with my first pregnancy. Doctors couldn't find a cause for it either. Baby was healthy though and it was the only time in my life I had a normal cycle even though it wasn't an actual cycle.

Any bleeding in pregnancy is not normal really if you get it you should speak to your Dr or midwife. 
I'm early pregnancy this can have very little impact or it could be a miscarriage and in a more advanced pregnancy it could be an issue with the placenta and so could pose a risk you both mum and baby.

A friend of mine bleed like a true period but it was breakthrough bleeding and it was heavy when she was 5 weeks along the Dr told her to terminate the pregnancy as they saw a empty sac. Shes almost 7 weeks and the bleeding has stopped and they saw a little peanut in the gestational sac on the ultrasound. I have alor of friends that are expecting.
