Advice on birth control

Jenna

I have had mirena twice now. This is my second time and I am scheduled for a new one on 11/20. However, my new boyfriend (not sleeping with yet), just told me that he's fixed and I shouldn't bother getting it replaced if I only use it for birth control purposes.

So now I am debating whether or not to get it removed or replaced. These are my factors to consider:

I actually have longer periods with mirena than without.

The first few months with this one, I bled for 4 weeks straight, had two days off, and 4 week period again. Doctor thinks I will likely have that problem should I space out my mirenas.

In my past relationships, I have noticed that both people can feel the mirena in certain positions. This has become painful at times.

I could get it later if things were to end. It seems early to try to bank on us being together for the long haul though.
