Career Change

Katie

For the past 6 years, I have been in the financial field. I currently work at a credit union and love my job. However, shortly after dating my husband and before our first child, I wanted to join the police academy and work in law enforcement (my husband is a deputy). He told me to try my hand at dispatching until I turned 21 since that is the legal age to get certified. I hated dispatching. A couple weeks after being a dispatcher, we found out we were pregnant and since I hated the dispatch center, I quit and went back to my comfort zone of banking. Now that it’s been 4 years later, I do ride along a with hubs all the time and I’m reminded of my desire to pursue the career. Now the only problem is, we have a 3 year old, established finances, no crazy debt, just a lot of things that we need steady income to pay for. If I went to the academy, I’d have to quit my full time job with benefits and a kick ass lease vehicle, to work part time and go to school. I am torn because I want it so badly but I feel like my family will suffer if I go for it.....
