Gave myself my first injections today!!

So today I started my meds! I was incredibly nervous about giving myself an injection. As a nurse it’s sooo much easier to give needles than to get them. I will admit though that the needle really didn’t hurt going in. What was sore was the actual injection of the meds. But it was quick and the possibility of a baby is more than enough motivation to get me through the next few weeks.

Here are some tips for those who are starting injections:

1) let the alcohol dry all the way (usually 15-30 seconds). This not only gives it a chance to actually clean the skin, but it makes it so the needle doesn’t sting going in

2) if you pinch the skin around where you will be injecting into kind of hard that may also help reduce the pain/discomfort of the actual needle

3) don’t inject too slowly! That also makes it more uncomfortable.

4)try not to psych yourself out too much! Remember what you are working towards!!

Hope this helps anyone who has to start IVF meds!! And baby dust to us all!!
