Pediatricians and Formula

I have a three month old son who has been on breastmilk since he was born. He has been in the first and 3rd percentiles at all of his baby check ups and our pediatrician believes he is underweight due to these percentiles. In addition our doctor thinks our son has silent acid reflex so he prescribed him medication that he’s been on for the past month. My son is a picky eater but he eats at least 24 ounces a day and has plenty of wet and dirty diapers. He seems very happy and alert and active. My pediatrician has been wanting us to try all these different kinds of formula and at our last appointment said he wants to have me try our son on 100% formula for the next few weeks and see if he gains weight. What do you all think? Should I get a second opinion?
