Sex with a friend?

So I have a male friend who I am sexually attracted to but not romantically and in the past he has subtlety asked to have sex but I've never done it and wasn't ready so I said no. We never stopped flirting or lost the attraction towards each other and now I'm ready and really want to do it. (I'm 16 almost 17 btw) 
But is it bad/ what's everyone's opinions on having sex with a friend (and more specifically having your first time with them)

I think having sex with a friend is fine. If you’ve both made it clear that all it is is sex and your having fun then why not? But I would really recommend not doing it if it’s going to be your first time. Wait until your in a relationship with someone you’ve been with for a while. I feel like you should lose your virginity to someone that you trust 100% and not to someone that might not even talk to you again after they’ve got what they want. There’s other ways to have fun.. don’t just give yourself away like that.
