Alcohol while breastfeeding?

What are the rules on alcohol while breastfeeding? Do you drink? I’m not a big drinker, but would love a glass of wine or beer a few nights out of the week! My baby is 7 months if that makes a difference. Is there a certain time to drink? My baby nurses A LOT.

The rule of thumb is generally if you're okay to drive/not feeling tipsy, it's okay to breastfeed. Alcohol leaves your milk at the same rate it leaves your bloodstream, so pumping and dumping is unnecessary unless you're physically uncomfortable. If you're only planning on having one drink, I'd say wait until right after you've nursed so you know you'll have a few hours before baby will be thirsty again. If you're worried, you can always pump a bottle beforehand as well to give yourself more time.

I follow the rule: Safe to drive, safe to feed. After the age of 3 months I would have one drink and think nothing of feeding my baby. This was my doctors recommendation.

You can have a drink or two. I have only stuck to wine or beer and never had more than two. I wouldn’t go out drinking shots and get wasted but you can definitely have  a couple glasses of wine especially being your baby is seven months.

As long as you’re not shitty lol If I had a good night out and drank a lot, I would pump when I got home and saved it for a milk bath.

I wouldn't risk it at all. It still passes through the milk and isn't something I'm comfortable with. 
However, I gave up alcohol for 9 months so I definitely wasn't giving it up while I breastfed. I just feed her before I drink and then give her a bottle of formula at night if necessary and in the morning if it isn't out of my system. 
There's websites that show tables of when it's safe to breastfeed after however many drinks you've had.
