Using the pill to skip a period.

Hi All. My fiance' and I have been trying to get pregnant for 6 years now. And so far no luck, but we are off to Spain the end of December and it so happens I start my periods that day we leave. I've never used the pill before but keen to use it to skip this period, can someone help with advise or any other tip on how to do this. Thanks :)
